Screening Room™ Screening Room™is a video screensaver package that will allow you to use any set of QuickTime™ movies as your screensaver. Bug reports If you find any bugs please report it to nv@mindspring.com, with the subject of the message as "SR Bug" PLEASE NOTE: Screening Room™ will not deactivate the screensaver on mouse movement, this was done on purpose, since I have found it to be annoying to have the screensaver terminate when I just accidently bumped the mouse. It will deactivate on all other stuff like mouse press, key press, etc. Selecting the location of your movies 1. Create a folder to contain your movies 2. Put either your movies or aliases to your movies into the folder that you just created 3. Open the Screening Room™ control panel and click on the Folder button 4. Select the folder you created in the get directory dialog Setting the screensaver delay Enter the hours, minutes, and second in the area labeled Delay. The default is 5 minutes. Use the tab key to move from hours -> minutes -> seconds. Please note the changes indicated here or in any of the other textedit boxes do not take effect until you click on a non-textedit item. Options Screening Room™ has a number of options that will allow you to modify the way in which your movies are played back. Randomize Play: When this box is checked, Screening Room™ randomly shuffles the movies in your movie folder, in a similar fashion as the shuffle button on a CD player. Location: When this box is checked, your movies are placed in a random location on your screen when they are played. If the box is unchecked then the movie will always play in the center of the screen. Effects: When checked, it will cause Screening Room™ to pick display effects randomly. Note that while this is selected the effects options are inaccessible. Box: When checked, the x and y dimensions of your movies are altered in a random manner during playback, a really cool effect when combined with the scatter option. Note that when this option is checked, the size options are inaccessible. Effects Pong: When this option is checked the display frame will float across the screen until it hits a border, at which time it will take on a new direction and velocity. Note that this option is mutually exclusive with the Scatter option. Pong Trail: This option is only available if the Pong option is selected. When selected, it causes the display frame to leave a trail as it pongs across the screen. Residual Frame: When this option is checked the last frame of each movie is left on the screen. This results in a collage effect on screen. If the box is unchecked, the background is cleared after each movie. Scatter: When checked this option will scatter the frames of a movie all around the screen, and when combined with the Randomize Box option, its really cool. Note that this option is mutually exclusive with the Pong option. Display Natural: When this box is checked, Screening Room™ will determine the natural size of the movie automatically and will play it at that size. Note that the Randomize Box option below will not be available when Natural is selected; also since the size will be determined by Screening Room™ the Size options below will not be available while this option is selected. Size This option is only available if the Randomize Box and Display Natural options are unchecked. When available it allows you to specify the playback size of the movie. You can choose between 320 x 240, 640 x 480, or Other. If you select other then enter the desired x and y dimensions in the textedit boxes. If you like to watch letterboxed movies then use x and y values at a 2:1 ratio (ex. 600 x 300, 800 x 400). Zoom This option is only available if the Display Natural option is selected. When available it allows you to zoom the movie by integral units of it natrual size. Volume In this textedit box specify a number in the range 0-9, with 0 being no sound, and 9 being maximum volume. This only has an effect if your movie has a sound track. The playback volume is relative to the volume set in the sound control panel. e.g. If the sound control panel volume is 5 and the Screening Room™ volume is set to 9, then the absolute volume that you will hear is level 5.
